Sustainable development ‘Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the needs of future generations’. This is Suslight’s company policy and it must never become a marketing slogan.
B-Corporation When we started doing business, we knew for sure that it had to be sustainable business. This is with a view to keeping the earth liveable for the next generation. But respect for human rights also had to take centre stage.
We also wanted to do something for our immediateenvironment. Naturally, after doing a B-lab impact assessment, we became a B-Corporation. It keeps us sharp and on the move. We set ourselves new goals every year to continue to grow in sustainable entrepreneurship.
1% for the planet We make great efforts to be as sustainable as possible. However, wherever production takes place, traces are left behind. As long as we are not completely energy-neutral, we will repay this debt by donating 1% of our profits to the
‘1% for the planet’ movement.
Earth overshoot day We follow the Earth overshoot day movement with great interest. Of course, we are only one small company, so what can we achieve? But hey, every difference counts! Leds stop waiting for a better world, leds start working on
it together!
Choice of material We want to leave as little environmental damage as possible, and we can make a big difference with our choice of materials. We have therefore chosen to use aluminium. This metal is a sustainable material because it can
be reused endlessly. This reuse results in 95% less energy consumption compared to the production of polycarbonate. In terms of both quality and durability, aluminium scores best.
We also use native oak and bamboo as the most sustainable alternative to tropical hardwood. Both materials not only have a very long life, but also a
particularly low ecological footprint. This, in turn, is perfectly in line with Suslight’s philosophy.
